It can be hard for kids in high school to know about sports programs out there that would be of interest to them. MissUC is proud to have a history of offering programs that appeal to high school students, regardless of their skill level or experience of Ultimate.
Below is a listing of programs that Mississauga Ultimate Club (MissUC) offers with a brief description of what they are and what a high school student may expect from it. In many cases there is a link included to the registration of the event.
- SATURDAY ALL LEVELS (Spring)
- U18 TOURING TEAMS (tryouts in April, Summer)
- MONDAY ALL LEVELS PICKUP (Summer)
- TUESDAY BEGINNER CLINICS/GAMES (June) (July) (August)
- THURSDAY INTERMEDIATE/COMPETITIVE LEAGUE (Summer)
Please note, in order to participate in an event run by MissUC, participants must have a “membership”. Members under the age of 18 can get a “Youth Membership” which involves parental support. Here is a link to the Youth membership registration for 2025, which is valid from April 1, 2025 to march 31, 2026.
Saturdays All Levels Spring League (April 12 – May 24) This is a great opportunity for members of a high school team to get a weekly opportunity to play ultimate which can be invaluable for improving their skills during the high school ultimate season.
In this “HAT” league, players will be assigned to teams created by the league. There is an opportunity to request to play with multiple friends. This league welcomes all genders and includes players ranging in age from 14 to 59. This league is a great opportunity for beginners to the game of ultimate to play with and against players who are also learning the game. The participation of experienced players allows for friendly and valuable instruction from fellow team mates while playing the game. Here is a link to the registration.
Under 18 (U18) Touring Teams (Tryouts April 12 & April 19) This is a great opportunity to meet and play with boys and girls, aged 14 to 18, from across Mississauga (and beyond) that are interested in developing their ultimate skills in a serious way. While we can’t guarantee it, any kids that participate in this program are practically shoe-ins to play on their high school team the following year.
There are plans for a boys team and a girls team. There are intentions for those players that don’t possess the skills to qualify for the “touring teams” to offer positions on “developing teams”. Anticipate two practices a week and approximately tournaments on 3 summer weekends. Here is a link to the registration.
Monday All Levels Pickup (Summer) This is a perfect league for students, especially beginners to the game of ultimate, that want to learn the game and develop basic skills.
In this program, a field is set aside on Monday nights for anyone, of any age or gender, that has signed up to join others and play. There is no obligation to a team to show up. Teams are made up from those that show up each Monday, and fun is had by all. There are enough experienced players that attend so pointers on how to play and rules are clarified throughout the evening.
Tuesday Beginner Programs (June) (July) (August) This is a three week program offered each month for anyone of any age to come out and learn the basics of Ultimate through a series of clinics and games. This program is designed for people that are new to the game and can feel comfortable taking their time while meeting others with similar experience. New players that register for this program may invite one friend that is an experienced ultimate player to come out for free.
Thursday Intermediate/Competitive League (Summer) This is a league for players that have skills and knowledge of Ultimate and really want to become proficient.
By playing alongside and against highly experienced and skilled ultimate players, one’s game can only improve. Ideally, teams register for this event, but MissUC does offer individual registrations that can be used to assemble a team or assign players to a team.
